Change it
Open Account, choose to change your master password, and enter your current one and the new one.
Choose something long that you’ll remember: a phrase of a few unrelated words works well. It’s the one password Vallkey can’t keep for you.
What happens next
- This device stays logged in.
- Your other devices are signed out. Each asks for the new password at its next sync, and keeps the changes it hadn’t sent yet.
- Your items don’t change. Changing the password rewraps one key. Nothing in your vaults is encrypted again, and nothing is shared differently.
- Face ID, Touch ID and other biometric unlocks keep working on the devices where you turned them on.
- Your Secret Key stays the same.
If you forgot it
Nobody can reset your master password: Vallkey never has it. Use your recovery code, or your family organizer’s help, to choose a new one. See Recovering your account.
If someone may have learned it
Change it, and sign out any device you don’t recognize under Account: see Your devices. Without your Secret Key they couldn’t log in anyway, but change it all the same.
