Vallkey now runs as a native app on Windows and Linux, with the same protections as every other Vallkey app.
What’s in it
- The whole vault in a window: every item, sharing, families, legacy contacts and recovery.
- Windows Hello. Unlock with your face, fingerprint or PIN. The key that opens your vault is made each time by Windows Hello’s own key in your computer’s TPM, and isn’t stored anywhere.
- The system keyring on Linux, for unlocking without your master password on a computer that locks with your own.
- Locks with your computer, when it sleeps or (on Linux) its screen locks.
- A tray icon, to open, lock and quit, so Vallkey keeps running when you close the window.
- One unlock for your browser. Pair the browser extension with the app, and it unlocks whenever the app does.
Under the hood
Your keys and decrypted items stay inside the app, and the window shows only what each view needs. When the browser extension is paired, the key that opens your vault only ever crosses to it wrapped in a key the extension already holds.
