Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Vallkey (“we”) when you use Vallkey’s apps, websites and services. They’re written to be read. Where a word has a specific meaning, it’s explained where it’s first used.

Your account

You need an account to sync your vault between devices. You’re responsible for your master password and your Secret Key: we never have them, so we can’t recover your account without them or the recovery methods you set up.

Keep your Emergency Kit somewhere safe. Anyone with your master password and Secret Key can open your vault.

What we provide

Vallkey stores your vault encrypted, on our servers or on servers you choose, and syncs it between your devices. We design the service so we can’t read your vault: see the trust center.

We work to keep the service available, but we can’t promise it will never be interrupted. Your vault stays on each of your devices, so it keeps opening and filling while our servers can’t be reached.

Plans and payment

Free plans cost nothing. Paid plans are billed in advance for each billing period, through our payment provider or your app store.

The price lock

The price of your subscription won’t increase for as long as it continues without interruption.

If we raise prices for new subscribers, yours stays the same. If your subscription ends and you subscribe again later, the price is the one in effect when you return, locked again from then. Changing to a different plan uses that plan’s price on the day you change, also locked from then.

Taxes that your country adds or changes aren’t part of the price, and follow the law.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. Your plan continues until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then becomes Free. Nothing in your vault is deleted when a plan ends.

Your content

Your vault is yours. You grant us only what we need to store and sync it, encrypted. We don’t sell it, look inside it, or use it for anything else, and our design means we couldn’t if we wanted to.

You can export everything at any time, in open formats, and delete your account from Account in any app.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Vallkey to break the law, to attack our services or other people, or to store content you have no right to keep. The acceptable use policy has the details.

Our software

Vallkey’s apps and server are licensed to you, not sold, for use with the service under these terms. Don’t copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute them, except where the law allows it, or where the license of an open-source library inside them does (licenses).

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll say what changed and when, at least 30 days before a change that matters takes effect. No change to these terms can raise the price of a subscription that continues, as above.
