Vallkey needs Android 11 or later. Passkeys need Android 14.
1. Log in
Open Vallkey and log in with your email, master password and Secret Key, or create an account.
2. Turn on autofill and passkeys
Open Account, then Autofill and passkeys:
- Choose Choose Vallkey for autofill, and pick Vallkey in the system’s settings.
- Choose Turn on Vallkey for passkeys.
3. Have Chrome ask Vallkey
Chrome, and browsers built on it, fill from their own password manager until you tell them otherwise.
On the same page, tap Chrome, and choose Autofill using another service. Chrome restarts. This needs Chrome 135 or later. Other browsers, such as Firefox, ask Vallkey without a setting.
4. Turn on fingerprint or face unlock
Under Account, turn on Fingerprint unlock or Face unlock. Vallkey then fills even while it’s locked: it asks for your fingerprint, opens the vault for that one fill, and locks again.
Autofill never asks for your master password.
Filling
- Tap a sign-in field. Vallkey’s logins for that app or website show under the field and above the keyboard.
- Search Vallkey finds any other login. Vallkey asks you to confirm it belongs there before it fills.
- In a new-password field, Vallkey suggests a strong password. When you finish, Android asks whether Vallkey should save the login.
Passkeys
On Android 14 and later, Vallkey’s passkeys and passwords show in Android’s own sign-in sheet. Pick one, confirm it’s you, and you’re signed in. New passkeys are saved to your vault the same way.
Which apps Vallkey trusts
Vallkey takes a web address only from a browser on Google’s list of browsers that may speak for web pages, checked by the certificate the browser is signed with. Any other app gets the logins saved for the app itself.
