Instant sync

Every device, up to date in seconds.

A change on one device reaches your others, and the people you share with, within seconds. Each device keeps the whole vault, so it works offline, and edits made apart are merged, not lost.

An account's devices, each logged in and kept in sync, with Travel Mode below them.

How it works

Instant sync, step by step.

  1. Change something

Save a login on your laptop. Vallkey encrypts it and sends it at once.

  2. Your devices hear about it

The server tells your other devices to sync, over a connection that carries no vault data.

  3. They check, then show it

Each device checks what it downloads against the vault's signed manifest before it trusts it.

The details

What careful people ask.

Offline first

Every device keeps your vault, encrypted, in its own database. Unlock, read, fill and edit without a connection.

Conflicts never lose data

Edits to different fields merge, field by field. If two devices change the same field, the item keeps one value and your whole other version is saved as a copy.

An edit beats a delete

If one device deletes an item while another edits it, the edit wins and the item comes back.

And a safety net

Devices also sync after every change and every five minutes, in case a message was missed.

Or through your own folder

A vault kept only on your devices can sync through a folder they share, such as iCloud Drive or Dropbox, with no server at all.

Questions

Does the web vault work offline?

No. The web vault keeps nothing in the browser, so it needs a connection. The apps and the browser extension keep your vault and work offline.

What can the server see when I sync?

That your device synced, and encrypted items with padded sizes. Not what changed inside them.

Your passwords. Your keys. Your price.
