- 2
Import the file in Vallkey.
In Vallkey
- 3
In Vallkey, open Settings › Import, and choose Credential Exchange.

Choose a Credential Exchange (.json) file. It's read on your device: nothing is sent anywhere unencrypted.
- 5
Check the summary of what will come over, then confirm.
- 6
Delete the export file, and empty the trash it went to: it holds your passwords in the clear.

Questions
Is it safe to export from Credential Exchange?
The export file isn't encrypted, so keep it on your own computer, import it straight away, and delete it afterwards. Vallkey reads it on your device.
Will I lose anything?
A few things can't come over: Files kept with items; Passkeys other than P-256, which websites rarely use. Vallkey lists them before you confirm.
Can I keep using Credential Exchange while I try Vallkey?
Yes. Importing changes nothing in the other app. Many people run both for a week, then cancel.
