How to export passwords from Chrome, and move them safely

Export from Chrome

1. Open chrome://password-manager/settings.
2. Choose Export passwords, and confirm with your computer’s password.
3. Chrome saves a CSV file.

Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, Arc and Chromium work the same way, from their own password settings.

Handle the file carefully

The file holds every password in plain text. Import it straight away, then delete it, and empty the trash.

Import into Vallkey

Choose Import in Vallkey and pick the file. Vallkey shows what it found before adding anything, and flags duplicates.

Then turn off the browser’s own saving

Otherwise Chrome keeps offering to save passwords alongside Vallkey. In chrome://password-manager/settings, turn off Offer to save passwords.
