Add a legacy contact
- Open Vaults, choose the vault, and open its sharing page.
- Choose Add a legacy contact, enter their email address, and pick a waiting period from 7 to 90 days.
- Compare their fingerprint with them, in person or by phone, so you know it’s really their key.
They need a Vallkey account; the Free plan is enough.
When they ask
You’re emailed, and a notice appears in every app, saying who asked and when they’ll get the vault. If you don’t know why they asked, choose Deny. They can ask again later.
If you don’t answer within the waiting period, the vault reaches their devices, to view only.
If you stop using Vallkey
After 3, 6 or 12 months without any of your devices checking in (you choose), Vallkey sends you three check-ins a week apart. If none is answered, your legacy contacts are told they may ask. They still ask, and wait.
Final instructions
Add a Final instructions item to a vault you leave: what to do with each account, and anything else your contacts should know.
